Eastern Cape government withdraws ICT strategy due to plagiarism
Plagiarism has forced the Eastern Cape government to withdraw the approval of its Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) strategy.
Provincial authorities say the implementation section of the strategy, projects to be implemented and location of the projects are the only parts that were not stolen.
“When this information came to the attention of the Premier of our province, Mr Mabuyane, he ordered an investigation to look into the matter and circumstances that led to the plagiarising of contents of another document, which was passed to the provincial government as the provincial ICT strategy.”
Disciplinary action looms for those involved.
They will be charged with bringing the provincial government into disrepute, misconduct and dishonesty.
The Eastern Cape government says it has commissioned a new ICT strategy.
Some South Africans on social media are weighing in on the scandal.
