Teddy Mafia given a funeral fit for a king

Shallcross suspected drug kingpin Yaganathan Pillay has been laid to rest.

Community members came out in their numbers to pay their last respects.

Relatives described him as a generous man who cared for his community.

Pillay, known as Teddy Mafia, was gunned down at his home on Monday.

His alleged killers were beheaded and burnt allegedly by angry community members.

No one has been arrested for the crime.

Law enforcement officials were deployed to monitor proceedings, a move which raised the ire of some South Africans.

Pillay reportedly has several past convictions dating back more than 30 years ago.
